Affordable, High-quality Wireless Lapel Microphones*

I’ve done some recordings from my iPhone, away from my desk, and I didn’t love the crackling sound of wind or birds in the background of those recordings but thought I’d need the more expensive Rode or Sony mics to solve that.

For basic or infrequent cases where you need to record and your traditional wired mic (that sits on or attaches to your desk) can’t be used, or if you just don’t want a mic stand or boom arm in your face while you talk 🙋🏻‍♀️ –you’ll need a wireless lapel mic that clips to your shirt/collar/etc.

The Hollyland option has great reviews on Amazon and is a simple plug-and-play with no installation software required. I researched both & went with the Lark M2 first, and was very surprised at how easy it was to set up & use, at about half the price of its Rode or Sony competitors.

What’s in the Hollyland Lark M2 box:

  • it comes in a 2-pack in both older & newer versions, so you can always have one that’s charged & ready to use, or one for 2 individuals who are both speaking

  • the Lark M2 combo pack (works with cameras/laptops, Androids & iPhones) comes with:

    • charging case & camera/laptop receiver,

    • 1 receiver with a USB-C plug,

    • 1 receiver with a Lightning plug,

    • 2 wind screens,

    • stickers to cover the big HL logo on the round mic to make it appear less distracting,

    • 2 magnetic alligator clips,

    • 2 lanyards with a magnet on each,

    • a USBC to USBA cord

    • a 3.5mm to 3.5mm TRS cable for cameras,

    • and a drawstring bag to hold all of this stuff!

Other options:

  • each DJI Osmo Pocket 3 Creator Kit Combo* comes with one DJI wireless mic plus windscreen & clip magnet, and a bunch of other stuff, so I also have this one.

    • They even have a simple wired lapel mic clip-on that works with the DJI wireless mic & your Osmo Pocket 3 for about $40, which I also have 😂 because the DJI mic is wireless but somewhat large & heavy, so wiring this lapel mic to that means that I’m still technically wireless while wearing a smaller mic on my shirt, etc –but I didn’t need anything expensive to use with my Osmo Pocket 3.

  • Sony Dual-Channel Wireless Microphone ECM-W3*

  • Rode Wireless Go II*
