I admit it. I had never been a podcast listener, –until 2018.
I know, I know. So late to the game! 😂

I mean, I was completely oblivious, maybe naiively so, to the point that podcasts weren't even on my radar; like they didn't exist at all, or if/when I heard about one I’d shrug it off in the same way people had shrugged off lifestyle bloggers or vloggers before they became what they are now, or what I think of as “influencers” who are just famous for being famous.

When I'd hear something like, "subscribe to my podcast," I'd roll my eyes and my last thought would be something like 'pshhh, like I need something else to keep up with.'

Turns out I was wrong about podcasts though!

I started listening to one –no, I can’t remember which one it was– I loved it so much that I went looking for more to add to my library and I loved those too! So I went looking for even more.

Now I subscribe to 50+ different podcasts, and I listen to all of them fairly regularly, some more often than others.

In most cases, there's nothing to "keep up with" as it turns out, these podcasts are a little like books; you can pick them up and stop whenever you want. They're always available whenever you have free time to listen and most of them are not chronological so you can start on episode 288, then skip over to episode 15 and it often doesn’t matter that you’re listening out of order.

Today I'm listing my favorite business podcasts that every female entrepreneur (or small business owner) should be listening to a few new ones I’ve found since my original posting!

    –––––––––
*The podcasts I'm listing today, are not affiliated with me in any way, and I'm not getting paid to promote them. I'm telling you about them only because I enjoy listening to them myself. They've been helpful for me in my own journey, so I want to share them with you too!

My favorite business podcasts for female entrepreneurs & small biz owners

The following are not in any particular order!

    The Strategy Hour

By: Boss Project (formerly Think Creative Collective)

BP was made up of two lovely ladies: Abagail and Emylee, for years. Both are kickass, and they are not afraid to tell it like it is. They are silly and funny, but also smart and competent young women, who went into business together, and then quickly grew into a very successful online entrepreneurial empire. In 2023, Emylee stopped contributing to the podcast to pivot and pursue a new dream, but Abagail is still publishing valuable content.

On their 3rd episode, they interviewed Rachel Hofstetter, former editor of O Magazine, and she walked listeners through how to get noticed by publications like O. Talk about actionable advice, right from the gate!

If you subscribe, you'll hear from other fantastic successful people like: "David Siteman Garland of the Rise to the Top, Nathan Barry of ConvertKit, Natalie Franke of the Rising Tide Society, and Ankur Nagpal of Teachable."*

They cover a large number of topics you'll want to hear all about, including: "growing an online audience, email automation, diversifying your products and offers, generating more sales online, social media, outsourcing, affiliate marketing, productivity, systems, and how to treat your passion like the real business it is."*

And if you like what you hear, they have their own self-paced online courses so you can dive in even further, including the ever-popular Trello for Business.

    Goal Digger

    By: Jenna Kutcher

I think this one was my first podcast listen, actually. I stumbled onto it, and started with her first few episodes, marathoning them and enjoying every second.

Jenna is super upbeat, easy to listen to, and she has a lot of advice to share that's worth your time. She is so relatable and real that you might forget she's not just a wise neighbor or friend. She invites tons of experts onto her podcast, and picks their brain to see what made each successful, and what advice they'd give to listeners. It's inspiring, uplifting, empowering, fun, and real.

She is religious (fair warning if that's not your cup of tea), but she doesn’t tend to publish preachy episodes, so don't be afraid to listen anyway. After all, her podcast isn't about church, it's about business advice and she's also a natural marketer, so that gives her extra perspective that other experts like her don't have.

    She Means Business

    By: Carrie Green

I first "met" Carrie, Founder of the Female Entrepreneur Association, when I read her book of the same title, She Means Business* which by the way, is an excellent read that I definitely recommend!

She isn't a goofy entertainer, but she is interesting, relatable, and full of real & helpful advice. With her easy-flowing British accent, she provides listeners with one inspiring episode after another.

Apple Podasts’ description says, "If you’re a creative and ambitious female entrepreneur, or are contemplating the entrepreneurial path, this podcast will provide the honest, realistic and practical tools you need to follow your heart and create a wildly successful business."

    Breakthrough Brand Podcast

    By: Elizabeth McCravy

Elizabeth is a course creator and web designer, and I listened to her course for years before joining her signature program, Booked Out Designer* a few years ago in its second round of enrollment –which I absolutely loved.

    Apple Podasts’ description says,

And, I’ve built a multiple six-figure web design business while in my early and mid 20s. I believe that how to build a thriving business shouldn’t be a secret. So, I’m here to pull back the curtain of all things successful business building.

I design and sell Showit website templates over at elizabethmccravy.com. I teach fellow brand and website designers how to build an in-demand business in my course and coaching program, Booked Out Designer. And, I've been a podcaster/content creator for years now. I believe in working smarter, building wealth through scalable income, and building your business around your LIFE... not your life around your business.

    Business First Creatives

    By: Colie James

Colie is one of my favorite no-nonsense people. An Enneagram 8, an ex-professor a photographer who loves processes & also became a Certified Dubsado expert ––her episodes are filled with giggles and gold, with or without guests. Keep your ears peeled, because Colie doesn’t mean dropping verbal bombs, and some –who am I kidding– most episodes have a bit of explicit language.

    Apple Podasts’ description says,

“Every creative deserves to turn their craft into a business that brings them joy and profit. Here you'll find a no-BS approach to what it takes to put the business first, prioritizing the systems and strategies that will actually move the needle and ensure your creative business is profitable rather than an expensive side-hustle. Your host is Colie James, a Disney-loving family photographer, and filmmaker turned Workflow and Automations Guru who helps creative service providers automate their sh*t, reclaim their time and get back to living!”
